Meeting of the Minds (MOM)
This assignment is a mindfulness practice that invites you to relate more directly to the professional responsibility dilemmas faced by Pedro and Mindy. It asks you to consider another's perspective and relate to it as if it were your own.
After reading a vignette, place yourself in the position of the protagonist, e.g., for Class Two it is Pedro. Imagine how you might experience the same events, were they happening to you, and were you to have engaged in the same conduct. It is not uncommon to feel a little uncomfortable simulating conduct that you hold yourself above and do not believe you would engage in. We know that you are "putting yourself in someone else's shoes."
Write a short passage, akin to a diary entry—in the first person--that focuses on the portion of the vignette that was most disconcerting to you.
Be especially attentive to identifying to the various thoughts, feelings, and body sensations arising as you would have experienced what you experienced and made the decisions you did.
Your entry should be no more than a page in length, double spaced, all fit onto one page with your name on top.
Note: You may assume the reader knows what happened so you need only include only that factual content which you feel necessary to avoid confusion.
